Chika Alphonsus is bold, ambitious, and changing the way Africa learns languages.

The Nigerian trailblazer has transformed Swedish from a niche subject into a highly sought-after skill, creating opportunities for students, professionals, and entrepreneurs across the continent.

This October, Chika will receive a prestigious award in Ghana in recognition of her groundbreaking work in education and cultural exchange.

Her journey is about more than grammar and vocabulary it’s about breaking barriers and connecting Africans to global opportunities.

From physical classrooms in Lagos to virtual lessons across borders, Chika has built a movement around Swedish learning.

Notably, she is the first African and Nigerian to teach and own a Swedish language school.

Through her institution, Alphonsus Swedish School, she has nurtured a growing community of learners. And she is not stopping there. This December, she is set to launch Africa’s first Swedish learning app—an innovation designed to make mastering the language interactive, fun, and accessible to all.

Packed with pronunciation guides, cultural immersion, and practical exercises, the app promises to revolutionize language learning on the continent.

Chika’s story is one of vision, grit, and courage. She is proof that one person’s passion can inspire a generation and even rewrite history.

As Ghana prepares to celebrate her achievements, one thing is clear: Chika Alphonsus is only getting started, and Africa’s language-learning journey will never be the same again.
