Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed delight with the progress of English-born Ghanaian duo Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong.
George and Acheampong were both promoted to the first team after impressing the Italian trainer during the pre-season tour of the United States last summer.
Both players made their senior team debut in the current campaign and have made a significant impact as Chelsea chase a UEFA Champions League qualification spot while also reaching the last four of the Conference League.
George, a winger, netted his first Premier League goal for Chelsea in the comeback victory over Fulham on Sunday.
“I’m very happy for Tyrique, him and Josh Acheampong, both from the academy, we decided to promote them because they are good talent, [and] they have to [keep] working hard,” said Maresca.
Acheampong was an unused substitute at Craven Cottage as Pedro Neto scored an incredible last-gasp winner.
“Pedro’s goal, we all know that Pedro is better on the right side, but we also have Noni, we have also Jadon, so I try to decide game by game, but Pedro is doing well since he arrived here,” added Maresca.
