Red-hot attacker Antoine Semenyo has admitted that Chelsea gave Manchester City a much more difficult challenge in the FA Cup final following their narrow victory at Wembley Stadium.

The English-born Ghanaian forward scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute with a brilliant backheel finish to hand City a 1-0 victory and secure the club’s eighth FA Cup title.

After the match, Semenyo praised Chelsea’s performance and intensity, insisting the encounter was far more demanding than City’s earlier cup final against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

“I won’t lie, Chelsea gave us a much tougher game than Arsenal did in the Carabao Cup final. Their intensity, the pressure, the way they kept fighting until the end… it was completely different,” he said.

“There were moments today where we genuinely struggled to control the game because Chelsea kept coming at us again and again. They made it difficult for us,” he added.

The final proved to be a tense and competitive contest with both sides remaining organized defensively for most of the game before Semenyo’s moment of brilliance separated the two teams.

Since joining Manchester City from AFC Bournemouth midway through the season, the 26-year-old has quickly become one of Pep Guardiola’s most important players. He has now won two major trophies with the club after previously lifting the EFL Cup earlier this season.

Antoine Semenyo is currently enjoying the best form of his career, recording 20 goals and six assists in all competitions this season. His performances are also expected to earn him a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
