Liam Rosenior succeeds Enzo Maresca as Chelsea head coach

Premier League side Chelsea have officially announced Liam Rosenior as their new head coach on January 6, 2025, following the dismissal of Enzo Maresca.

It indicated that the former Strasbourg coach has signed a six-year deal, which will run until 2032, to manage the affairs of the club.

The Blues noted that Rosenior’s experience in managing youth sides and coaching clubs such as Hull City, Derby County, and Strasbourg gives him the required expertise to lead the team.

“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach of the men’s team. The Englishman has signed a contract with the club that will take him through to 2032.

“Rosenior arrives at Stamford Bridge after coaching overseas with RC Strasbourg, where he led the French club to European qualification for the first time in 19 years in his first season, following earlier roles in England with Hull City and Derby County. While there will continue to be a focus on player development, the Club’s expectations and ambitions remain high,” the club announced on their official website.

Rosenior expressed delight at the opportunity to coach such a huge club and work with top players.

He vowed to do his best to achieve success at the club and make the supporters proud.

“I am excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch, and to create an environment where everyone feels united and driven by the same goal.

“I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent in every single game that we play. They are the soul of this enormous, historic football club. I cannot wait to meet you all. I cannot wait to get started,” he added.
