Coach Karim Zito recorded some notable achievements before resigning from his role as head coach of Asante Kotoko on February 9, 2026.

The coach explained that he felt the need to bring his tenure to an end after thoroughly reviewing his performance.

Kotoko currently rank fifth in the Ghana Premier League after drawing twice and losing twice in their last five games, including a 3-1 defeat to Kpando Heart of Lions.

In the MTN FA Cup, the defending champions were eliminated at the round of 16 stage by Aduana Stars. Kotoko played out a goalless draw with Aduana but suffered a 4-2 loss in the penalty shootout.

Zito was appointed in July 2025, taking over from Prosper Narteh Ogum to steer the affairs of the club in a better direction.

From July 2025 to February 2026, eight months at the helm, he managed 37 competitive matches, winning 19, drawing 11, and losing 7.

He recorded a win percentage of 51%, kept 19 clean sheets, scored 50 goals, and conceded 31.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, he played four matches, won two, and lost two, exiting at the early stage of the competition.

During his reign, he spearheaded Kotoko to clinch the FA Cup, President’s Cup, Champion of Champions Cup (Super Cup), and the Toyota Cup in South Africa during an international pre-season tour, all within the eight-month period.
