Ghanaian musician cum radio personality, Blakk Rasta, has lambasted some members of Parliament over their conduct during the recent ministerial vetting process.

His comments are particularly in reaction to Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s comments that some individuals personally urged the Minority to refrain from questioning the Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate, Linda Akweley Ocloo, during her vetting on January 28, 2025.

Recently, in response to criticisms about compromising vetting standards and allowing Linda Ocloo to go without asking the necessary questions, Afenyo-Markin explained that some individuals urged him not to be harsh on her.

Afenyo-Markin, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Appointments Committee, said they cited her status as a widow, adding that she might not be able to withstand intense scrutiny.

But speaking on this development during his show on 3FM, Blakk Rasta criticised the Majority and Minority, accusing them of lowering standards in a way that could harm the country.

He specifically called out Afenyo-Markin, asking him to “bow his head in shame” for admitting that both sides had compromised on the process.

“These are the so-called ‘honourables,’ yet they accepted this dirty, stinking plea. If she is not in the right state of mind to serve the nation, put her aside. It’s not by force,” he fumed.

Blakk Rasta also compared this vetting to previous ones, referencing former Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection Minister, Sarah Adwoa Safo.

“In the last vetting we saw in Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo went in there and because she had a baby, they pleaded that the vetting should be as short as possible. What did we see from Sarah Adwoa Safo? She had a cozy walk in the park. She became the most arrogant minister of State we had in that government. First, she decided to abscond. Better still, she decided to abandon her ministerial duties and run all the way to America,” he stated.

He added, “We saw her celebrating birthdays. Yet the Ghanaian people were waiting for her to come and deliver on her responsibility as she had sworn to do. She became the most arrogant minister, telling Ghanaians her family comes first.”

Blakk Rasta concluded by calling for the dissolution of the Appointments Committee.

“Well, thanks to Afenyo-Markin. He has told us how cheap this Appointment Committee is. It’s stinking cheap. It’s beyond cheap. And if I had my way, I would disband this dirty, cheap, irresponsible Appointments Committee right now,” he claimed.
