Fresh court filings have reopened questions around the estate of late Highlife musician Daddy Lumba, pushing family disagreements back before the Kumasi High Court despite earlier efforts to calm speculation.

At the centre of the latest development is Charlyn Fosuh, one of the musician’s daughters, who has taken steps to formally distance herself from legal documents seeking authority over her father’s property. She has applied to have her name removed from letters of administration submitted by Daddy Lumba’s widow, Akosua Serwaa, and his elder sister, Ernestina Fosu.

The application follows a public response issued by the late musician’s children just days earlier, after social media claims suggested their mother had forged Charlyn Fosuh’s name and personal details in court papers. In that statement, the children firmly rejected the allegations, voiced support for their mother and maintained that no falsification had taken place or that Charlyn Fosu had been secretly added to the legal process.

However, in a separate move on January 26, 2026, Charlyn Fosuh filed a misjoinder at the Kumasi High Court, asking that her name be struck out of the documents altogether. The court heard the application the same day.

Her lawyer, Enoch Afoakwa, confirmed after proceedings that the judge had granted the request and ordered the removal of her name from the letters of administration.

Detailing the grounds for the application, Afoakwa said, “We are here because Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, and his sister, Ernestina Fosu, filed letters of administration to manage the musician’s estate, and in that document, they included Charlyn Fosuh’s name.

“But Charlyn Fosuh, together with the other 10 children, did not agree to apply for letters of administration. Per their decision, even if any child is to be included, they support Calvin Fosu as the appropriate person to do so,” he said.

According to the lawyer, the children are not interested in prolonging the matter through drawn-out court battles. Instead, he said they are appealing to both sides involved to resolve their differences amicably and allow the family to focus on preserving Daddy Lumba’s legacy.

“She wished the controversies had died down so the family could appreciate the legacy their father left behind before his demise. She added that if the children are to appoint someone to lead the legal process, it should be the male-born,” he stated.
