Former Accra Hearts of Oak winger, Charles Taylor has called on the club’s hierarchy to name the Pobiman training pitches after members of the “64 Battalions” squad.
According to Taylor, the 64 battalions’ contributions to the club’s global image deserve proper recognition.
“A board with pictures of the 64 battalions can be placed on the training ground of the players, making it easier for them to identify and appreciate those who laid the foundation for the club’s success.”
“The game played by the 64 battalions isn’t a game for kids ,others played before us but we were able to achieve what no one has achieved,” Charles Taylor said.
The “64 Battalions” squad under the legendary coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio won Accra Hearts of Oak’s only CAF Champions League title after beating Espérance de Tunis in 2000.
Accra Hearts of Oak added the Ghana Premier League and FA Cup to compete a historic treble.
