Chamber of Mines backs government’s Adamus revival plan

The Ghana Chamber of Mines has commended the Government for what it describes as a major step towards resolving the longstanding impasse involving Adamus Resources Limited, describing the development as a positive signal for investor confidence and the future of indigenous mining in the country.

In a statement issued in Accra on August 21, 2026, the Chamber welcomed the decision by stakeholders to implement a 12-month roadmap aimed at restoring the operations of the mining company through a six-member joint management team.

According to the Chamber, the arrangement reflects a commitment to dialogue and collaboration while helping to preserve a productive mining asset that remains important to Ghana’s economy.

The Chamber noted that Adamus Resources occupies a strategic position within Ghana’s mining landscape as one of the country’s few indigenous large-scale mining operations. It said the successful revival of the mine would help protect jobs, sustain local businesses and support host communities while safeguarding the company’s contribution to government revenue and the broader mining value chain.

    Commendation for government

The industry body particularly praised the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the leadership of the Minerals Commission for what it described as their efforts in securing a practical resolution to the dispute. It also acknowledged the management of Adamus Resources for engaging constructively throughout the process.

The Chamber further urged all parties involved to remain committed to the agreed roadmap and ensure that its implementation is guided by transparency, accountability and a shared determination to return the mine to sustainable operations.

It stressed the importance of addressing outstanding liabilities and mobilising the investment required to secure the long-term viability of the company.

    Support for sector growth

The Chamber reiterated its readiness to support initiatives that protect investments, preserve jobs and promote responsible local participation in the mining sector. It added that strengthening the contribution of mining to national development remained a key priority.

The latest development comes amid renewed efforts by government and industry stakeholders to enhance the performance of Ghana’s mining sector, which remains one of the country’s leading sources of export earnings, employment and foreign exchange.

Industry observers say the successful implementation of the Adamus recovery plan could serve as an important test case for resolving disputes in the extractive sector through dialogue and cooperation while maintaining investor confidence.
