Jeffrey Schlupp signs for Celtic

Celtic have strengthened their squad with the loan signing of versatile Crystal Palace player, Jeffrey Schlupp, until the end of the season.

With Kieran Tierney set to arrive in the summer, Brendan Rodgers has made a shrewd move by securing the former Ghanaian international, who can play in multiple positions, including left-back.

Schlupp brings a wealth of experience from his time in England, having featured for both Leicester City and Crystal Palace. His versatility has seen him deployed as a left-back, left wing-back, central midfielder, and left winger.

Since joining Palace from Leicester City in 2017, Schlupp has made over 200 appearances, accumulating vast Premier League experience. He was also part of Leicester’s historic 2016 squad that defied the odds to win the Premier League title.

Speaking to Celtic’s official website, Schlupp expressed his excitement about the move:

“I am really happy to join Celtic, such a massive and iconic name in football.

I have spoken to Brendan, and I am really looking forward to working with him and the lads in the squad as we aim to bring more silverware to our supporters.

“I can’t wait to get started, to pull on those famous green and white hoops, meet the fans, and give everything I have to bring us more and more good times.”

The 32-year-old becomes Celtic’s second major signing of the transfer window, following the £8 million return of winger Jota from Rennes, 18 months after his departure to Saudi Arabia.
