Yvonne Jegede (L) and Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko (R)

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has spoken out strongly in support of her colleague Regina Daniels, amid allegations of domestic abuse involving Regina and her husband, Ned Nwoko.

In a passionate video message shared online, Jegede criticized individuals mocking Regina instead of showing empathy, emphasizing that no amount of wealth or status justifies staying in an abusive relationship.

“You people on the internet are not real. A young girl has come out to cry for help, that she is being violated in her home, and the first thing people will say is, ‘Are you not married to a rich man?’

“If she were married to a poor man and he was beating her, would that make any difference? You people just like bad news,” she said.

Yvonne Jegede expressed disappointment, particularly toward some of Regina’s colleagues who she claimed were making light of the issue despite having played motherly roles with her in movies.

“Shame on all those laughing at her, especially her colleagues who were playing motherly roles in her movies,” she added.

The actress emphasized that once violence enters a relationship, walking away is the only safe option.

“Once violence is inside a relationship, I will not sugarcoat it, carry your bag and leave. Be it a woman or a man, it is better for you to leave and live to tell the story than to stay and die,” she said.

Yvonne Jegede concluded by urging victims of abuse to prioritize their lives and mental health over public perception, stating that survival is more important than societal judgment.

‘I’m nothing in Ned Nwoko’s house’ – Regina Daniels breaks down, cries over her marriage

What happened?

On October 18, 2025, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels shared an emotional video online, appearing in tears as she alleged domestic abuse in her marriage to businessman and politician Ned Nwoko.

In the video, the popular actress said she could no longer endure the violence and was seen packing her belongings, which sparked widespread outrage and calls for an investigation into her husband’s conduct.

A day later, on October 19, Ned Nwoko publicly responded, denying the allegations and claiming that Regina was, in fact, the violent one.

He shared videos of broken furniture, shattered glass, and a damaged car, alleging that Regina had attacked domestic staff and destroyed property while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

According to Nwoko, the incident occurred while he had taken their child to the hospital, during which Regina allegedly caused chaos at home with the help of two individuals he described as her drug suppliers.

He added that he had asked Regina to undergo rehabilitation either in Nigeria or abroad, insisting that none of his other wives had ever accused him of abuse.
