Former Ghana FA Vice-President Fred Pappoe has praised the demeanor and approach of new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz following his official unveiling.

The Portuguese tactician, who has been handed a four-month contract by the Ghana Football Association to prepare the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, was introduced last Thursday at the Alisa Hotel, where he addressed the media on his plans and ambitions.

Reacting to the unveiling, Pappoe highlighted Queiroz’s composure and experience, noting that the coach demonstrated a clear understanding of the task ahead while remaining respectful of the team’s current situation.

“I think, generally, he came across as calm and mature, someone who has been around and knows his stuff,” Pappoe said.

“He showed a lot of confidence in the task ahead without disrespecting the situation we find ourselves in.”

“He appears to be a realistic person and measured, even with the expectation, but very clear and letting us know that it is doable, whatever it is, but then we have to do the right things first, which he mentioned that we will be prepared to do,” he added.

Ghana, making their fifth appearance at the World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
