Donald Trump (L) was in attendance as Carlos Alcafraz (R) won the US Open

President of the United States, Donald Trump, was present at the 2025 US Open in New York to witness two of the finest players battle for glory on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

The president’s arrival delayed the start of the match, as tight security checks had to be undertaken to ensure his safety and that of other dignitaries.

This resulted in many ticket holders queuing for quite some time before they were granted access to the venue after the checks were completed.

Despite the delays, the match eventually began, with Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz emerging victorious over Italy’s Jannik Sinner in four sets, claiming his second US Open title at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York City.

The match marked the third consecutive Grand Slam final between the two players and their 15th meeting since 2021.

The pair, dubbed “The New Two,” have frequently traded places in the ATP rankings for the top two spots.

However, Trump was met with mixed reactions from the crowd, with some fans booing and others cheering as the national anthem was sung.

Reports indicate that the boos were triggered by frustration over the delays caused by the heightened security, which left many fans waiting in line for an extended period of time.
