CAPE COAST – The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, has donated 1,500 LED bulbs, 1,000 units of mosquito repellent, 20 streetlights, and five desktop computers to five Senior High Schools (SHS) in his constituency.

The beneficiary schools are University Practice Senior High School (UPSHS), Wesley Girls’ Senior High School (WGSHS), Academy of Christ the King Senior High School, Efutu Senior High School, and Cape Coast Technical Institute.

The donation initiative, which commenced at UPSHS on Tuesday, provided each school with 300 LED bulbs, four streetlights, one desktop computer, and 200 units of mosquito repellent.

In an interview, Dr. Nyarku, popularly known as “Ragga,” explained that the donation was prompted by a recent familiarization tour of the schools. He stated that the tour revealed a critical lack of adequate streetlights and illuminated classrooms.

“I therefore decided to provide streetlights and bulbs to all SHSs in my constituency,” Dr. Nyarku said. “I also donated computers to support their administrative work and repellents to protect students from mosquito bites and aid their learning.”

The MP further announced plans to extend similar support to select schools in the neighboring Cape Coast South constituency, noting that he had already donated 500 LED bulbs to Adisadel College. He pledged to replicate the gesture at St. Augustine’s College and Holy Child SHS in the coming weeks.

“This is because we are all in Cape Coast, and everyone must be involved,” he explained.

Addressing the issue of schools lacking boarding facilities, Dr. Nyarku indicated he had heard the appeals from various headteachers and would explore avenues to help them secure the necessary infrastructure to support teaching and learning.

Representatives from the beneficiary schools thanked the MP for his support and wished him God’s continued blessings.
