Karim Zito faces a familiar challenge as Asante Kotoko welcome Dreams FC to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Kotoko coach comes up against his former club and his longtime protege, Wilfred Dormon. Zito spent much of his coaching career with Dreams, guiding them to the FA Cup title in 2023 and a memorable run to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals before joining Kotoko midway through last season.

Kotoko enter the fixture desperate to halt a four-match winless run. Their title hopes have taken a hit following a narrow defeat to Hohoe United that left them five points off the top.

Their home form, however, remains strong, with the Porcupine Warriors unbeaten in six matches at the Baba Yara Stadium this season.

Dreams FC arrive on the back of a victory over Bechem United, though their away form remains a major concern. They have yet to win on the road this season, having failed to secure three points in six away fixtures. History offers Kotoko further encouragement, as Dreams have managed only one win in Kumasi since 2020.

The two teams have met six times in recent years. Dreams hold a slight edge with three victories compared to Kotoko’s two, with one draw completing the record.

Their most recent encounter took place on May 18, 2025, when Kotoko claimed a convincing 4-1 victory. Across the six meetings, Kotoko have scored six goals while Dreams have found the net seven times.

Kotoko have played 13 league matches this season, winning five, drawing six and losing two. They have scored 14 goals, averaging 1.08 per match, and conceded nine, an average of 0.69.

Dreams have played the same number of matches, with four wins, two draws and seven defeats. They have scored 13 goals at an average of 1.00 per match and conceded fifteen, averaging 1.15.

Kotoko sit fifth with 21 points from thirteen games. Dreams FC are in fourteenth position with fourteen points from the same number of matches.
