The Black Stars are on course to book their ticket to the 2026 World Cup after topping Group I with two games remaining.

In their quest for qualification, the team face a test against the Central African Republic (CAR) in an away fixture that will be played on neutral ground at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco.

The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 16:00 GMT.

Although CAR may be considered minnows, the match promises to be a tricky one that could potentially delay the Black Stars’ qualification hopes.

In the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Ghana lead Group I with 19 points from eight matches, with two more to play.

The team has demonstrated attacking prowess, scoring an impressive 17 goals, with key players like Antoine Semenyo, Kudus Mohammed, and Thomas Partey all finding the net.

Defensively, the Black Stars have shown solidity, conceding just six goals and maintaining a goal difference of +11, with one draw and one defeat in eight matches.

Players such as Benjamin Asare, Alexander Djiku, Caleb Yirenkyi, Gideon Mensah, and Mohammed Salisu have played instrumental roles in maintaining that defensive record.

While Ghana soars, the Central African Republic enters the game with an underwhelming record, positioning them as clear underdogs.

CAR has played eight matches, winning once, drawing twice, and losing five, struggling to match the level of their opponents.

With only eight goals scored and 17 conceded, their defensive frailties have been exposed.

In their last two matches, CAR suffered 2–0 defeats to both Madagascar and Comoros, results that effectively ended their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.

Key players like goalkeepers Geoffrey Lembet and Dominique Youfeigane, defender Hugo Gambor, and forward Bertillon Arnold Yangana are expected to give the Ghanaian players a run for their money.

The Black Stars head into the clash as heavy favorites, especially given the form of attackers like Semenyo, Kudus, and Fatawu Issahaku, who have been outstanding for their respective European clubs.

The return of Djiku and Alidu Seidu is expected to strengthen the defense, helping the team avoid conceding and maintain control of the game.

Despite CAR’s poor form, they could still spring a surprise, particularly as Ghana has struggled to grind out results in away matches, highlighted by the disappointing draw against Chad in their previous outing.

Rigobert Song, a former Cameroon international and current CAR manager appointed in January 2025, will face Ghana’s Otto Addo in a tactical showdown that could influence the outcome.
