Camidoh has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of his life. He revealed how depression and anxiety nearly derailed his career.

The ‘Sugarcane’ singer’s emotional reflections came during an appearance on United Showbiz on July 26, 2025.

Camidoh recounted how professional relationships in Ghana began to unravel after rumours circulated about him, rumours he said he didn’t even understand. The situation worsened when communication with his external collaborators suddenly went silent.

“It was due to rumours about me that they had heard. For me, I don’t even know what I had done, but people took offence and spread rumours about me.

And even the external team I was working with, I stopped getting feedback after a while. We could write them emails, but no response,” he said.

The emotional toll took a serious toll on his health and well-being.

“So, all that stress got me sick, and I went through depression,” Camidoh added.

At his lowest, the artiste found unexpected support in an elderly woman he met by chance. After they exchanged contacts, she began sending him uplifting voice notes and text messages that brought him hope during his darkest days.

“One day, she sent me a voice note which touched me deeply. She told me how it seemed like nothing was working out for me. But I shouldn’t give up,” he recalled.

So moved by her words, Camidoh decided to immortalize her message in a song on his upcoming album. He even featured her words on the album’s cover.

He added that he was so touched that he sampled her message in a track on his upcoming album, even quoting her words in the album’s cover artwork.

Sadly, just two days before the official unveiling of the artwork, the woman passed away.

“I was devastated. Because she was my source of inspiration during the days I was going through anxiety and depression,” he revealed.

Though shaken by her death, Camidoh says her words continue to resonate with him. Her voice, once a lifeline, now lives on in his music and in his heart.
