Ghanaian Afrobeats star, Camidoh, has opened up about his evolution from a rapper into a celebrated singer.

Speaking in a candid interview on Hitz FM, the Sugarcane hitmaker explained that although he began his music career as a rapper, but the demands of the genre became too overwhelming to maintain, especially without the support of a label.

“I just felt that rap became a lot of work for me because, as time went on, I had to be reading a lot. I had to be doing so much work because the bar is always being raised. So that was a lot of work for me,” Camidoh shared.

He highlighted that rap music requires a consistent upgrade in lyrical content, intense preparation, and a commitment to staying ahead in a competitive and fast-evolving genre.

“There was a lot to do, and rap is one genre that demands serious lyrical investment. Without a strong support system, it was hard to keep up,” he added.

Camidoh continued that singing came more naturally to him and offered the flexibility to express himself without the pressure of constantly needing to “out-bar” previous performances.
