Ghana defender Caleb Yirenkyi has been named in the Team of the Month for August in the Danish Superliga.

The 19-year-old made the team following his outstanding performances for FC Nordsjaelland in the month.

Yirenkyi scored and delivered an assist in five matches in August, earning him another player of the month selection.

He was also nominated for the Young Player of the Month award and will compete against compatriots Prince Amoako Jr and Bismarck Edjeodji for the accolade.

Also in the team of the month are AGF’s trio Tobias Bech, Frederik Beyer Tingager and goalkeeper Jesper Hansen.

Mohamed Elyounoussi of Copenhagen, Dario Osorio and Aral Simsir of FC Midtjylland, OB’s Fiete Arp, Hjalte Bidstrup of Viborg, as well as Gabriel Pareira and Andreas Oggesen all made the Team of the Month.

Yirenkyi emerged as a transfer target for several clubs during the summer transfer window but could not conclude a deal.

He is expected to make a move to the top 5 leagues in January following his blistering form in Denmark.

The teen sensation was also one of Ghana’s best players during the international break, starring against Chad and Mali as the Black Stars inch closer to World Cup qualification.
