CAF 2nd Vice-President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku has hailed the successful 47th General Assembly of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) held in Kinshasa, the vibrant capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Over the course of five productive days, key stakeholders from across the continent convened to deliberate on strategies for growth, sustainability, and unity within the game.

Reflecting on the event, CAF 2nd Vice-President and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, commended the spirit of collaboration and forward thinking that defined the Assembly.

“The past five days have been truly eventful and inspiring for African football as we gathered in Kinshasa, the vibrant capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, for the 47th CAF General Assembly. It was a period of meaningful engagement, constructive dialogue, and forward-thinking discussions aimed at shaping the future of our beautiful game on the continent,” he said.

The Assembly, presided over by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, brought together members of the Executive Committee and representatives from CAF’s 54 Member Associations. The sessions were marked by unity, transparency, and a shared commitment to driving the continuous development of African football.

“Under the visionary leadership of CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, the Executive Committee and our Member Associations successfully conducted the business of the Assembly with remarkable unity and purpose. The deliberations reflected a shared commitment to progress, transparency, and sustainable growth, reaffirming that African football is indeed on the rise,” Okraku noted.

A highlight of the gathering was the participation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and senior members of his team, reaffirming FIFA’s strong support for African football’s ongoing transformation.

“We were deeply honored by the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and his able team, whose continued partnership and support remain invaluable to the development of football across Africa,” Okraku added.

The 47th General Assembly focused on strengthening governance, financial accountability, youth development, and infrastructure enhancement,  key pillars in CAF’s long-term vision to make African football globally competitive and commercially sustainable.

In conclusion, President Kurt Okraku expressed optimism about the continent’s football trajectory and the collective determination of stakeholders to elevate the sport to greater heights.

“Africa’s football story continues to unfold, and it is a story of unity, resilience, and ambition. Together, we will keep moving forward, building stronger structures, empowering our youth, and elevating African football to greater heights on the world stage,” he affirmed.

The 47th CAF General Assembly in Kinshasa once again underscored the unity of purpose among African football leaders and the shared aspiration to make the continent a powerhouse in the global game.
