Bullet, a well-known artiste manager and musician, has hailed the late Daddy Lumba as the greatest musician Ghana has ever produced, not simply for his own achievements, but for his extraordinary generosity in uplifting other talents.

In an interview with Ghanaweb at the residence of the late music icon, Bullet shared heartfelt reflections, emphasizing that his admiration is rooted in facts, not sentiment.

“He is the greatest to ever do it. Yeah, he’s the greatest of all time. And I’m not saying this because he’s no longer around,” Bullet said.

Unlike many musicians who shine alone at the top, Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, made it a personal mission to elevate rising stars. According to Bullet, this rare trait set him apart in the Ghanaian music industry.

“I’ve never seen a star who allows other stars to shine with him. Lumba is the only one who brought out Felix Owusu, Nana Yaw Michah, Ofori Amponsah, Akua Serwaa, a lot.
That has never happened in the history of Ghana music. The artistes don’t do it, when they shine, they shine alone,” he explained.

Bullet went on to recognize others who have followed in Lumba’s footsteps, mentioning Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and himself as figures helping nurture new artistes.

“I’m doing it. I’m bringing other artistes as well. So the new crop should learn from that side,” he added.

He urged contemporary Ghanaian musicians to draw inspiration from Daddy Lumba’s legacy by creating room for new talent and fostering growth within the industry.
He stressed that true greatness lies not just in personal success, but in how one opens doors for others.

Daddy Lumba, whose career spanned more than three decades, left behind a remarkable discography of over 30 albums and an enduring influence on Ghana’s cultural landscape. Born on September 29, 1964, he remains a symbol of artistic excellence and mentorship, even in death.
