A Nigerian Igbo man based in Canada shares his reservations about the idea of building gigantic houses in the villages instead of the city.

This is a common practice especially among the Igbo people who believes that their ancestral home deserves the best of the result of their hard work. Thus, they build magnificent houses there which they stay in whenever they visit during festive seasons.

The doctor who gave a differing view, @official_doctor_zo, mentioned it a financial lack of insight because these house stay dormant throughout the year and remit no profit unlike if it were in the cities.

His caption says, “In my opinion! Building village mansions! Is a total waste of money! I support building small houses with big compounds if possible! 4 bed max! Build big mansions where it can bring quick money and where it will appreciate faster! Walk away from that old screwed mentality in the East! My opinion! My advice!!

Here are what netizens have to say:

Austindizor: Not everything is meant to have economic values

    fierceflower: I’m a living witness….colossal economic waste!

ago_zim: Well, you might have also lost that house to the government of Lagos state or due to Wike madness in Abuja. Just build what you can afford and maintain that’s all.
