Pat Brown stopped a tough Vasil Ducar to capture the WBA International and IBF Intercontinental Cruiserweight titles in front of an electric crowd at Planet Ice, Altrincham, live worldwide on DAZN.

‘The Bomber’ put the tried and tested Czech down twice during eight valuable rounds before the ref waved the action off, and the hometown favorite was pleased to entertain his loyal supporters, and told British rival John Hedges to get in with Ducar and prove he’s ready to set up a big domestic dust-up.

Brown said: “It’s the people in here tonight that mean more to me than anything. I knew he [Ducar] would be tough and that’s why I started slow. There are a lot of things to take from tonight. That performance is better than stopping him in the first or second round for me.

“I wanted to fight John Hedges tonight, but it didn’t happen due to politics so that ship has sailed in my head. If John fights Ducar and proves he can mix it with me, then I’ll get in there with him, of course.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn added, “Ducar was the perfect opponent. We wanted rounds and got plenty of them. Pat is sometimes guilty of standing in there and taking a few too many, but he loves mixing it up.

“Ducar has gone the distance with a lot of world class fighters so for Pat to get him out there inside the distance in just his sixth fight is impressive.

“I’d like to make Pat [Brown] vs John [Hedges] for the British Title.”

William Crolla stunned with a seventh-round comeback against Glenn Byrne, knocking the Irishman out after having to crawl off the canvas three times himself.

The rematch for the Northern Area Lightweight Title between Josh Blenkiron and Robbie Colman did not disappoint, as both men went toe-to-toe for another ten rounds with Colman edging a split decision victory – the pair now stand at one apiece.

Mancunian Alfie Middlemiss impressed in his first fight under the Matchroom banner, claiming a points victory after an entertaining eight rounds.

Identical twins Ioan and Garan Croft got off to a flying start in their Matchroom journey, both winning on points in front of a loud, Welsh traveling support.

And Heavyweight Jordan Thompson tasted defeat for the third time in his career, getting stopped in the seventh round.
