A British woman has died after plunging 60 ft from a scenic beauty spot in Majorca.
The 39-year-old was rushed to hospital on Monday after falling from a lookout point in the Palma neighbourhood of es Jonquet, which overlooks the sea.
Local police and paramedics who responded to an emergency call stabilised her at the scene before she was transported to hospital, where she was admitted into an intensive care unit.
The unnamed Brit died the same night at Palma’s Son Espases Hospital, according to reports.
Local police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Insiders close to the ongoing probe confirmed that police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the tragedy and said the woman’s death was not being treated as a crime.
Detectives have spoken with witnesses who saw the woman fall.
It was not immediately clear if she was on holiday in Majorca or lived locally.

The area around it is popular with people enjoying leisurely strolls who include many tourists.
The woman’s tragic fall comes months after a British man died after plunging from the sixth floor of a building in Palma in front of horrified tourists.
A witness is said to have told police the man plunged from the skylight of a car park in the centre of Palma, near to the well-known Saratoga Hotel back in September.
Emergency responders raced to the scene but were unable to save the British man.
Just days before the tragedy, a British teen was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after falling from a first floor property in Majorca.
The 15-year-old girl was stabilised at the scene before being taken to Son Espases Hospital in Palma.
The incident happened in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar near to the Love Island villa in the north-east of Majorca.
A code red is said to have been activated because of the extent of the youngster’s injuries.
