A ‘much-loved’ village pub manager has been named as the Brit who was stabbed to death by a homeless man at a railway station in Germany just hours after arriving in the country.

Rebecca Bullock, known to family and friends as Becca, suffered multiple stab wounds during what’s believed to have been an unprovoked attack in the early hours of Sunday.

The 31-year-old, who is said to have been on her way to Austria to support a friend at a funeral, later died in hospital from her injuries.

Police were called to the Rosenheim train station in Upper Bavaria at around 12.50am, and swiftly arrested a 27-year-old German man of no fixed address.

He has been detained in a psychiatric hospital on suspicion of murder, as police continue to investigate the circumstances.

On Tuesday, floral tributes were left outside the White Swan pub in Whitchurch, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, which has remained closed since news emerged of Ms Bullock’s death.

One local revealed he had seen Ms Bullock on Saturday afternoon, just hours before she set off on her journey to Austria.

In a Facebook post, the pub landlords wrote: ‘It is with the heaviest of hearts that we are having to write this.

‘We are so deeply sorry to say that our beloved Becca passed away over the weekend whilst away on holiday.

‘All our thoughts and condolences are with her family at this time.

‘Becca was much loved by all of the team at the White Swan and our amazing locals.’

Many left heartfelt tributes on social media to Ms Bullock, who was credited with running charity events at the pub – most recently helping support a fundraiser for a seriously ill girl in the community.

One wrote that she was ‘such a caring person that will go out her way for others’.

Another said: ‘Heaven has gained the most beautiful angel’.

A third wrote: ‘[She] was an old soul and everyone in our local always felt safe and secure, and she turned the local around to modernise it but also keep it a welcoming safe space for our community.

‘A true professional in hospitality with grace and dignity.

‘[She] was so tolerant and non-judgemental. We are absolutely devastated for her loss and for the loss her family.’

Richard Shuffill, 82, vice-chairman of the parish council in the village, said Becca had been ‘like a breath of fresh air’ at the local pub.

He told The Sun: ‘It was impossible not to like her. She was always pleasant and friendly. No one can believe what’s happened and she will be terribly missed.

‘Her death has come as a real shock and it’s a huge loss to our community. I only saw her Saturday lunchtime and then 12 hours later — bless her — she is no longer with us.’

Ms Bullock’s social media profile revealed she was a keen horsewoman, who regularly participated in trail hunting, as well as a dog lover and sports enthusiast.

The former pupil of Waddesdon Church of England School was also a member of the Thame Runners and had completed the 2022 London marathon in support of the Spinal Injuries Association.

Police have asked anyone with information or saw ‘an argument or physical altercation’ at the station to contact the Rosenheim Criminal Police Inspectorate.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: ‘We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Germany and are in touch with the local authorities.’
