Coventry City will be without Brandon Thomas-Asante for their next three matches after the striker was handed a suspension for violent conduct following their Championship defeat to Norwich City at Carrow Road on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The incident occurred in the first half, shortly before Coventry took the lead through Romain Esse in the 38th minute.

Thomas-Asante appeared to swing an arm into the face of Norwich midfielder Pelle Mattsson during an off-the-ball moment.

The clash was not spotted by the match officials at the time, but video footage later brought it to the attention of the Football Association.

After reviewing the incident, the FA charged the 27-year-old with violent conduct. Thomas-Asante admitted the charge and accepted the standard three-match ban.

“Brandon Thomas-Asante has been suspended for three matches following Coventry City’s EFL Championship match against Norwich City on Monday, 26 January.

“The player’s behaviour around the 34th minute wasn’t seen by the match officials at the time, but it was caught on video, and The FA alleged that it constituted violent conduct.

“Brandon Thomas-Asante subsequently admitted the charge against him and accepted the standard penalty for violent conduct,” the statement from the FA read.

The suspension is a blow for Frank Lampard’s side, with Thomas-Asante joint top scorer for the Sky Blues this season on 10 goals.

He will miss upcoming Championship fixtures against Oxford United and Middlesbrough at home, as well as the away trip to his former club, West Bromwich Albion.
