The WBC University International Boxing Congress 2026 will take place on October 2 and 3, 2026, at the Hotel Riu Guanacaste, located in the canton of Carrillo, Costa Rica.
The Congress will feature doctors, trainers, judges, referees, cutmen, officials, and promoters, with a focus on safety, scoring, officiating, boxer preparation, and the professionalization of the sport.
A public social event involving children, youth, adults, and seniors will be held in collaboration with WBC University and WBC Cares.
WBC University will also host expert-led conferences titled “Champion’s Mindset,” focusing on healthcare, the importance of sports, justice, and addiction prevention. Additionally, approximately 10,000 scholarships for young people and 1,000 scholarships for teachers, trainers, and social workers will be awarded through the “Formando Mente de Campeón” (Shaping a Champion’s Mindset) program.
WBC University serves as the academic arm of the World Boxing Council, dedicated to fostering professionalization, continuing education, and training across various sectors of the boxing world.
Key topics covered by WBC University include ringside medicine and safety, officiating, scoring criteria, corner strategies, and cut management.
An international professional boxing event will also take place in Guanacaste on October 3.
