Promising 23-year-old Mexican fighter Jesús “Demoledor” Estrada (14-1-1, 7 KOs) survived a fifth-round knockdown to defeat his compatriot, 21-year-old Ulises Cisneros (12-2, 11 KOs), by split decision (97-92, 94-95, 95-94). Estrada claimed the WBC FECARBOX Silver super welterweight title in the main event of the “Wellness Weekend Fight Night” card, promoted by Chiquita González Boxing at the World Trade Center in Mexico City and broadcast on TVC Deportes.
In the night’s co-main event, former WBC world light flyweight champion Yessenia “Niña” Gómez (22-4, 7 KOs) of Mexico defeated her compatriot Rubí “Toluquita” Molina (14-14, 0 KOs) via a wide unanimous decision (80-71, 80-71, 80-71) in an eight-round super flyweight bout.
Gómez looked superior from the start, landing constant, effective combinations throughout the fight and demonstrating her experience; following this victory, she aims to secure another shot at a world title.
