The previously announced Jesus Ramos Jr. vs. Meiirim Nursultanov bout has been scratched at the weigh-in and will be rescheduled for a later date. On Thursday evening, Ramos fell ill and was taken to a hospital in the San Diego area for treatment before being released on Friday morning.
Filipino Olympic bronze medalist Eumir Marcial will take on veteran contender Omar Ulises Huerta in the opening bout of action live on DAZN this Saturday, September 19 from Pechanga Arena in San Diego and presented by Premier Boxing Champions.
The four-fight card begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and is headlined by Mexican superstar Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz defending his Interim WBC Super Lightweight Title against once-beaten Puerto Rican contender Nestor Bravo.
Unbeaten rising super middleweight Daniel “Iceman” Blancas will square off against once-beaten Sergio Jimenez in the 10-round co-main event. Following Marcial vs. Huerta, 2024 Mexican Olympic Silver Medalist Marco Verde will battle fellow unbeaten Guillermo Hernandez in an eight-round middleweight duel.
Tickets for the live event are available through AXS.com. The event is promoted by TGB Promotions.
A highly-decorated Filipino amateur, highlighted by two trips to the Olympics, an Olympic bronze and a silver at the 2019 World Championships, Marcial (7-0, 4 KOs) will look to continue his rise in the pro ranks on September 19. The 30-year-old most recently went the 10-round distance for the first time, defeating Eddy Colmenares by decision in October, snapping a three-fight knockout streak. He’ll be opposed by San Ysidro’s Huerta (15-1-1, 13 KOs), who most recently dropped a decision in April to 160-pound contender Vito Mielnicki Jr. The 30-year-old has fought professionally since 2020 and stopped 13 of his first 15 opponents.
