He fought in Russia, the Philippines, Spain, the United States, and Mexico, winning the WBC International Cruiserweight Championship, the WBC Latino Cruiserweight Championship, and the Mexican National Cruiserweight Championship.

He was the son of prominent businessman Jorge Kahwagi Gastine and Sonja Macari Chalhub. His father, who served as president of the newspaper La Crónica de Hoy, died in March 2026 at the age of 85.

He resigned from the party to join the New Alliance Party (Nueva Alianza), where he served as secretary-general before becoming party president, a position he held from 2007 to 2011.

He also served as vice president of the Mexican newspaper La Crónica de Hoy and was subsequently appointed president of Grupo Editorial Crónica and the national daily newspaper Crónica.

He is the author of the book La tragedia de la envidia (The Tragedy of Envy).
