The event will also be a “Pink Out” in support of the fight against breast cancer. A special fundraiser will be held throughout the evening to benefit the JoAnne M. Sullivan Memorial Fund and its efforts to support breast cancer research. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and join CES Boxing in raising awareness and funds for this important cause.
“John Gotti III and Daniel Augare gave the fans an unforgettable fight when they shared the ring last October, and now they are ready to do it all over again,” said CES Boxing Founder Jimmy Burchfield Sr. “This card represents everything CES Boxing stands for: exciting main events, competitive matchmaking and opportunities for the best young fighters in Connecticut to prove themselves. We are also proud to make this event a Pink Out and use our platform to raise money for the JoAnne M. Sullivan Memorial Fund in support of breast cancer research. It is going to be a special night in Hartford.”
Gotti, of Oyster Bay, NY, and Montana’s Augare produced fireworks from the opening bell of their first encounter, engaging in a back-and-forth battle that Augare won via shocking third round stoppage. Gotti III now looks to turn the tables on “Eagle Boy” over six rounds in Hartford. With both fighters now familiar with one another, their second meeting promises to be another exciting showdown.
Unbeaten Stamford middleweight Douglas Marroquin (11-0, 6 KOs) continues his meteoric rise against rugged New Yorker Lasha Gurguliani (20-6, 9 KOs) in a six-round bout. Marroquin has quickly emerged as one of the region’s most promising young fighters, but Gurguliani represents the most experienced opponent of his professional career.
20-year-old phenom Joseph “J-Elite” Chisholm (8-1, 7 KOs) brings his explosive power to Hartford when he battles Texan Dominique Griffin (7-14-2, 2 KOs) in a six-round featherweight shootout. With seven knockouts in eight victories, Chisholm has established himself as one of the region’s most electrifying young talents and will look to deliver another statement performance against the experienced Griffin.
Popular Hamden super welterweight Anthony “The Enforcer” Nieves (3-0, 2 KOs) returns for the second time in three months when he collides with St. Louis’ Jaylon Green (4-3, 2 KOs) in a four-round battle.
Marroquin’s stablemate, Victor Guerra Vargas (3-0, 2 KOs), puts his perfect record on the line against Las Vegas-based Cuban Darian Castro (4-0, 1 KO) in an intriguing six-round battle of unbeaten welterweights. This is the second unbeaten fighter that the Norwalk-based Venezuelan has faced in as many fights.
Rounding out the card are a pair of super lightweights in separate bouts as New Haven’s Jeffrey Torres (15-2, 8 KOs) returns in an eight-round contest and undefeated Waterbury prospect Kevante Wineglass (5-0, 3 KOs) competes in a six-round matchup. Opponents for Torres and Wineglass will be announced shortly.
