Fightnews.com caught up with aspiring boxing journalist and amateur fighter Italia, aka Italy Adams, and her combat sports all-everything mom, Diamond Long, as they share their journey together.
Italia, 13, put on gloves for the first time at age 2, and her mom could immediately tell she was great at following directions. As she grew up, Italia fell in love with journalism and became passionate about writing about her passion, “the sweet science.” She has a front-row seat to the sport, as her mom owns a gym, is a professional fighter in boxing and MMA, and is an amateur referee.
The mother-daughter knockout combo is headed to Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut for Mike Tyson Invitational 3 on October 24, where Diamond will serve as one of the referees for the tournament, while Italia will seek out the legendary Mike Tyson for an interview!
