Mexican prospect David “El General” Cuéllar (29-1, 18 KOs), 24, will return to Cancún on October 24 to face Luis Enrique “Kiko” Guzmán Torres (14-9, 8 KOs), 30—a native of Tabasco. Cancún has been a key venue in his rise to the top of the boxing world, hosting victories over former world champions such as Mexico’s Moisés Fuentes (2021) and Panama’s Luis “El Nica” Concepción (2023), among others.
“El General” Cuéllar’s only defeat occurred in Japan on February 24, 2025, against Japanese world champion Junto Nakatani in a bout for the World Boxing Council (WBC) world bantamweight title; he was defeated by knockout in the third round.
Cuéllar ‘s most recent victory came in September 2025, when he defeated Juan Carlos “Godzilla” Mancilla by unanimous decision in Altamira, Tamaulipas.
