In a different sort of all Irish battle, Belfast, Northern Ireland’s Tyrone McKenna took on fellow southpaw welterweight, Paddy Donovan of Limerick, Ireland. After a feel ’em out first round, Donovan landed a long lead right uppercut to McKenna’s gut in the second, which forced a delayed reaction knock down. McKenna beat the count and survived the round. In the 4th, a hard left opened a cut over McKenna’s right eye. After an exam by the ringside physician, it was advised that the fight be stopped. Donovan improves to 16-2, while McKenna falls to 25-7, 8KOs.
