Boakye Agyarko is a former Minister of Energy

Former Minister of Energy and Power, Boakye Agyarko, has announced plans to embark on a nationwide listening tour as part of efforts to restructure and unify the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following its defeat in the recently concluded elections.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Monday, January 27, 2025, Agyarko expressed concern over the growing tensions within the party and emphasised the need for reconciliation and introspection.

He extended an apology to party members and supporters, urging them to exercise patience and let go of grievances stemming from the electoral loss.

“It is clear that about two million of our party supporters did not turn out to vote.

“Sometimes, I hear our commentators blaming these people for our loss. But the truth is, we are not entitled to their votes — we have to earn them. These individuals are not slaves to the party. They vote out of goodwill, and we must respect their position. Really and truly, we did not give them a good reason to vote for us, and we must take responsibility for that failure. We need to prioritise earning their trust and support again,” he said.

Boakye Agyarko reiterated his commitment to the party and its future, describing himself as a servant of the party.

“I am committed to serving the party in any way my wisdom directs me. This nationwide tour is about listening to our members, understanding their concerns, and fostering unity. Let’s forgive and forget, and recommit ourselves to the party for the sake of national development,” he stated.

The tour is expected to involve engaging party members and grassroots supporters across the country, addressing their concerns, and charting a path toward rebuilding the NPP.

Boakye Agyarko’s move comes at a critical time as the party seeks to heal internal divisions and prepare for future electoral battles.
