With pornography flooding Ghana’s internet space, Hiplife artiste Guru has called on the National Communications Authority (NCA) and other key institutions to step in and tackle what he believes has become a growing moral and social problem.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo, the musician lamented that pornography websites rank among the most visited sites in Ghana, a development he described as alarming and worrying.

According to him, there is enough statistical evidence to show that such content dominates online activities in the country, despite the availability of productive and educational digital platforms.

Guru hints he may soon be addressed as ‘Esquire’

Guru argued that rather than spending time on adult content, Ghanaians should make use of Bible apps and other online learning platforms that can help them acquire skills and knowledge capable of improving their lives and generating income.

He further appealed to the NCA and other authorities to strengthen regulations and block access to harmful or “diabolical” links and websites that promote immorality.

The rapper, drawing comparisons with countries like the United Arab Emirates, noted that there are jurisdictions where certain apps and websites are restricted to protect public interest.

“When you go online, it seems that in Ghana, pornography sites are among the most visited. Meanwhile, there are Bible apps and many other platforms where people can learn skills that could actually earn them money. So, why choose to watch pornography?

“The situation has become very troubling, and I think the authorities, especially the NCA, should step in. Links and sites that promote harmful content on the Ghanaian internet space should be blocked. For instance, in places like Dubai, there are certain apps and websites you simply cannot access,” Guru said.
