Ghana Music Awards USA Emerging Artiste of the Year Blakid has once again unleash the brand-new song “Shimi” a captivating low-tempo tune that beautifully blends emotion and artistry.

“Shimi,” a Ga word meaning “Leave Me,” draws deep inspiration from the highlife legendary Stella Tackie, paying homage to her legacy, Blakid reinterprets the phrase through his unique modern lens, fusing soulful melodies with thoughtful lyrics that reflect on life, judgment and the human tendency to speak ill of others while pretending to be flawless.

Speaking on the song’s inspiration in an interview over the weekend, Blakid shared, “People often talk about others as if they are perfect but in reality, we all have our flaws.

“Shimi is a reminder to live freely and not let negativity define you.”

With his signature smooth delivery and heartfelt storytelling, Blakid continues to prove why he’s one of the most promising voices emerging from Ghana’s new wave of artists.
