Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, are set to receive a significant financial boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following a major funding increase announced by FIFA.
Each qualified nation, including Ghana, will now receive $2.5 million in preparation funds, up from the previous $1.5 million. The enhanced allocation is expected to support the Black Stars’ training camps, logistics, and overall readiness as they gear up for the global showpiece.
FIFA also confirmed that qualification prize money has been increased from $9 million to $10 million, while total contributions to participating teams are projected to exceed $16 million per nation. These adjustments form part of a broader financial package, with total distribution for the tournament rising to $871 million across all Member Associations.
For Ghana, the funding comes as a timely boost as the Black Stars intensify preparations for the expanded World Cup, which will feature more teams and heightened competition. Football officials believe the improved financial backing will enhance Ghana’s chances of making a strong impact on the world stage.
The remaining funds will be redistributed to support football development among all 211 FIFA Member Associations worldwide.
