The four-time AFCON champions have now gone five games without a victory

Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations were officially dashed on Friday night, as the Black Stars’ winless run continued with a 1-1 draw against Angola at the 11th November Stadium in Luanda.

The four-time AFCON champions have now gone five games without a victory, recording three draws and two defeats in the qualifiers and scoring just two goals.

The result confirmed that Ghana will not feature in next year’s tournament, as they remain bottom of Group F with only three points from five matches.

The Black Stars needed a win against Angola and also required a victory in their final game against Niger on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium, following a shock 4-0 win for Niger over Sudan. The Nigeriens’ dominant performance meant that Ghana’s slim hopes of qualification were extinguished.

With no chance of progress, the match against Niger now holds no significance for Ghana.

This marks the first time in 21 years that Ghana will miss the Africa Cup of Nations.
