Chelsea fans voted for their all-time starting eleven as part of the club’s 125th anniversary, with the lineup dubbed ‘Team of 125’.

The midfield trio selected by fans consisted of N’Golo Kanté, Claude Makélélé, and Frank Lampard, leaving out the Ghanaian legend Michael Essien.

Essien played a key role in Chelsea’s transformation during the 2000s after joining the club from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon.

He won nine titles in nine years, making 168 appearances during his 11-year spell at the club. He also scored 17 goals, including some iconic strikes against Arsenal and Barcelona.

The fans’ Team of 125 includes: Petr Čech; César Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, John Terry, Ashley Cole; N’Golo Kanté, Claude Makélélé, Frank Lampard; Gianfranco Zola, Didier Drogba, and Eden Hazard.
