Ghana national football team doctor Prince Pambo has visited midfielder Francis Abu in France to assess his recovery as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Dr Pambo travelled to Toulouse last Wednesday to meet the 25-year-old, who is recuperating from the fractured leg he sustained during Ghana’s international friendly against Japan national football team in Nagoya last November.

Abu has spent the past three months in rehabilitation and is said to be making steady progress. He is currently engaged in structured gym-based sessions and is working toward a return to individual field training before rejoining full team activities.

The visit enabled Dr Pambo to evaluate the midfielder’s recovery trajectory and overall fitness, a key step in determining his readiness ahead of the global showpiece.

Abu made his senior debut against Uganda in March 2024 and has earned six caps, gradually establishing himself in the squad prior to his injury.

Earlier in the week, Dr Pambo also visited defender Mohammed Salisu in Monaco as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in January against Olympique Lyonnais
