Black Stars new boss Carlos Queiroz has delivered a strong message of focus, discipline and sacrifice to the Black Stars ahead of the highly-anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The experienced Portuguese trainer, who recently took charge of Ghana, is already intensifying preparations for the global tournament as the Black Stars prepare for their fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage following previous participations in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022.
In an inspiring message ahead of the tournament, Queiroz urged everyone connected to the team to remain fully committed to the national cause.
“40 days to honour the pride, passion, and dreams of Ghana. Absolute focus. Maximum discipline. Total sacrifice. No distractions. No excuses. Only commitment to excellence,” he said.
The former Real Madrid gaffer further challenged his players to dream big and remain united as they chase success at the World Cup.
“Think big. Believe big. Be ready to deliver big. Greatness is a team united on and off the pitch by discipline, sacrifice, and the relentless execution of every small detail together. Time to rise for Ghana,” he added.
Queiroz has already announced his debut squad for the upcoming international friendly against Mexico on May 22, with several senior players left out due to club commitments.
The coach is expected to name his final World Cup squad in early June ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
