The Ghana Football Association has parted ways with Black Stars high-performance coach John Paintsil as part of a restructuring of the national team’s technical setup.
The decision comes ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the association moving to strengthen the team’s backroom staff in a bid to improve performance on the global stage. Paintsil’s departure marks a significant change in the technical department as the GFA reshapes its structure.
Meanwhile, veteran coach Carlos Queiroz has been appointed on a short-term four-month contract to lead the Ghana national football team. The experienced tactician is expected to assemble his own technical team during his tenure.
Queiroz takes over with the mandate of bringing stability and improved results to the Black Stars, following disappointing early exits at the 2014 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
The GFA believes the restructuring and new appointment will provide renewed direction and strengthen Ghana’s chances of making a significant impact at the upcoming tournament.
