Ghana’s former Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, is urging the Black Stars to step up their game despite recent wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The team secured a 5-0 victory over Chad and a 3-0 win against Madagascar, but Vanderpuye remains unconvinced about the team’s overall development.
“I want to see a Ghana national team that will strike fear or put every other team on alert that they are playing Ghana, whether you are Argentina or Brazil,” Vanderpuye emphasised.
He expressed doubts about the team’s progress, stating that the two matches played so far don’t indicate any improvement, despite the wide score lines.
The victories have boosted Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the team leading Group I with 15 points.
Vanderpuye’s comments highlight the need for the Black Stars to develop a “fear factor” that will make them a formidable opponent in upcoming games.
