Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has pushed back against claims that his skyrocketing streaming numbers are the result of manipulation rather than merit.

Amid the buzz surrounding his sophomore album Iron Boy, the artiste took a strong stance in response to critics who allege that his digital dominance is artificially engineered.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, June 9, he dismissed the speculation as both absurd and insulting.

“Honestly, that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. My success is 100 per cent organic. I put my blood, sweat and tears into every note, every lyric and every performance,” he said.

Since the release of Iron Boy, Black Sherif has amassed a commanding presence across digital platforms. Six tracks from the album currently occupy the top six positions on both Boomplay and Apple Music Ghana’s Top 100 charts. The album also made a splash internationally, debuting at number six on Spotify’s UK Top Debut Albums chart and entering Billboard’s World Albums Chart at number 10. On Audiomack, it has already surpassed 80 million total streams.

Despite these milestones, rumors persist that his streaming numbers are artificially boosted, accusations he firmly rejects.

“I’ve built my audience through hard work, consistency and authenticity and that’s what’s driving my growth, not some cheap shortcut,” he stated.

Sherif credits the resonance of his music to his personal investment in its creation, saying, “My music speaks for itself. If people are connecting with my songs, it’s because I’ve poured my heart and soul into something real.”

Taking aim directly at his detractors, Black Sherif added, “Anyone who thinks I buy fake streams doesn’t know the first thing about my work ethic or my passion for music.”
