Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, are set to face Morocco in an international friendly on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Pere Jego Stadium in Casablanca.
This highly anticipated match falls within the February FIFA window and serves as a crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in July.
The game will mark the debut of Kim Lars Björkegren as the new head coach of the Black Queens following his appointment last month. It will also be the team’s first outing since their friendly defeat to Japan in July 2024.
The Black Queens have been inactive in recent months, having missed scheduled friendlies against Senegal and Tunisia due to financial constraints.
For Björkegren, this match provides a valuable opportunity to assess his squad as he fine-tunes his team ahead of Ghana’s return to WAFCON in 2025.
This tournament will also mark the Black Queens’ first appearance in the competition since 2018.
Ghana faces a tough challenge in Group C of the upcoming WAFCON, where they will battle defending champions South Africa, as well as Mali and Tanzania.
