The Black Princesses made an impressive statement after traveling to South Africa and securing a crucial victory in the FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana had drawn 2-2 in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, a result many fans viewed as a disappointment that could have threatened their chances of qualification.

However, the team remained focused and prepared well for the return leg, grinding out a narrow 1-0 win at the Nelspruit-Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

The first half ended goalless as both sides competed keenly to find the back of the net, but all attempts proved futile.

The Black Princesses came out stronger in the second half, controlling the game and pressing relentlessly. Their efforts paid off when Priscilla Mensah scored in the 63rd minute to break the deadlock.

Despite sustained pressure from the South Africans, Ghana’s defense held firm, ensuring a well-deserved 1-0 victory.

Head coach Charles Simpson’s side progressed to the next stage of qualification with a 3-2 aggregate score, aiming to make their eighth consecutive appearance at the tournament.

The Black Princesses will now await the winner of the Zambia vs. Uganda tie to determine their next opponent in the qualifiers.
