Executive Secretary of the National Film Authority (NFA), Kafui Danku, has stated that she was taken aback when Nigerian filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye told her that the only evidence she had of Ghanaian television stations pirating her films had vanished because it was sent via a disappearing message.

In an interview on Hitz FM on August 13, 2025, Kafui explained that she had asked Bimbo for evidence so the NFA could open a file and investigate her claims.

However, Bimbo told her that the person who sent her the evidence had used a disappearing message feature, so by the time she needed it, it was gone.

Kafui admitted she found this explanation “ridiculous” but decided not to press further.

The issue began in April 2025, when Bimbo posted a video on Instagram warning Ghanaian television stations against airing her movies without permission.

Bimbo Ademoye accused some TV channels of illegally broadcasting her work and expressed frustration over what she labelled as the continued theft of her intellectual property.

This development became topical online and prompted a response from the NFA.

On United Showbiz on April 27, 2025, Kafui stated that Bimbo had not yet provided any details to back her allegations.

According to Kafui, things moved forward later, when Bimbo saw a headline quoting her after her UTV appearance saying she had reached out without receiving a response. That, Kafui said, was when the Nollywood filmmaker finally contacted her.

“Recently, after Bimbo lashed out and we reached out to her, I later went on UTV and she saw a headline where I said I reached out but she did not respond. She got in touch, we started chatting, and I asked her, can I have the evidence so we can put it on file and then start working at it?

“She told me that whoever sent that message sent it to her in a disappearing mode, which I think is ridiculous. But I didn’t want to stretch it out because if they are truly using us for some sort of attention, it is working,” Kafui said.
