Bill Belichick has given a rare interview to the Wall Street Journal in which he hit back at a ‘flat-out lie’ surrounding his relationship with Jordon Hudson.
The legendary former New England Patriots head coach, 74, has been dating the 25-year-old former cheerleader since 2023.
Hudson has been a very public presence at the University of North Carolina since Belichick took the job as Tar Heels head coach in 2025.
She has regularly been pictured alongside Belichick on the sideline before games or at practices, and speculation has been rife about the level of her involvement with the program.
Emails uncovered via a Freedom of Information Request last year showed Belichick requesting Hudson be copied into emails to him, raising questions over her role within the program.
UNC has always insisted she has no official involvement with the program – and Belichick has hit out at the ‘flat-out lie’ that she is involved in all his business.

‘I had a lot of other things going on when I took the job,’ Belichick told the WSJ. ‘So, I sent an email when I got here and I said, “Can you please forward any requests to Jordon about my personal appearances so that I can work and coordinate them outside the university?”.
‘Didn’t have anything to do with the university. Well, that was leaked and released as “Jordon’s involved in every single thing that I do and she’s copied on every email.” That’s just a flat-out lie.’
Belichick made it clear any notion she is trying to be heavily involved in the team is ‘ridiculous’, as he looked to clarify the nature of her role.
‘The way the story was picked up was a long way from that,’ he said. ‘Like, “She’s trying to be the general manager of the team.” And it’s so ridiculous.
‘There are some things that she helps me schedule or look at. It’s not North Carolina stuff.’
Controversy about the age-gap couple’s relationship erupted in April 2025, when Hudson interrupted journalist Tony Dokoupil on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ when Belichick was asked how they met.
‘We’re not talking about that,’ she said bluntly from off-camera.
Belichick later criticized the network and claimed the infamous interview was deceptively edited.

The coach made an appearance on Fox News’ podcast ‘Hang Out with Sean Hannity’ where he said he ‘couldn’t believe’ the treatment he received from the network.
‘You know, as we’ve seen recently, there have been more editing problems, and they go back over a couple of years—multiple examples of editing and interview process and all that,’ Belichick said.
‘You know, I thought that the interview I had with them was done very deceptively. I’ve asked for the transcript from them, and they won’t give it to me. They’ve done that with others. I’m not really sure what that policy is.’
Belichick continued, ‘I’m kind of confused about some of the things that they [CBS] say they are, but I don’t really see them living up to the trust that they talk about.’
When asked by the reporter in the CBS interview how he handles criticism of his relationship with the nearly 50-years-younger Hudson, the former NFL coach replied, ‘I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks. Just try to do what I feel like is best for me and what’s right.’
