An Australian woman who moved to the other side of the world for love has allegedly been stabbed to death by her husband in their Florida home.

Mother-of-two Meaghan Bowler, 32, originally from the NSW Central Coast, was allegedly found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds in a bathtub at her South Manatee County home in the United States on April 9.

Police attended the home after Jesse Nicholas Jones, 39, allegedly called 911 and told the operator that he had stabbed his wife several times during an argument.

‘Deputies arrived and Jones answered the door while still on the phone to 911,’ court documents lodged in Manatee County Court state, as reported by the ABC.

Jones allegedly then directed the deputies to the bathroom on the second floor.

Paramedics revived Ms Bowler, but she died later in hospital.

Jones was charged with first-degree murder and has pleaded not guilty.

He remains in custody ahead of a bond hearing on May 22.

Mother-of-two Meaghan Bowler, 32, was allegedly stabbed to her death by her US husband, according to authorities

The couple’s two young children were found inside the home unharmed.

A former tennis coach and real estate agent, Ms Bowler grew up on the NSW Central Coast and attended Pymble Ladies’ College as a boarder.

She graduated from the International College of Management with a business degree in 2013 and began her career with AFL club the Sydney Swans as an event executive.

She worked as an administrative assistant in recruitment and spent almost a year as a real estate agent for Raine & Horne Mosman.

She later returned to the Central Coast, where she worked as a tennis coach.

It’s understood she met her husband online in 2022 and following a long-distance relationship, travelled to the US in 2023 for what was initially supposed to be a three-month stay, but never returned home.

‘She was deeply loved by all of us and brought so much to our lives,’ her grieving father Tony Bowler wrote online last month.

‘Losing her has left a hole in our family that can never be filled.

‘We are grieving and are trying to take this one moment at a time.’

Mr Bowler described his daughter as a caring and outgoing person who ‘instantly connected’ with others.

‘Meaghan was one of those girls who made an impact on everyone she met, she was a warm and friendly young woman with the most beautiful smile,’ he told Mosman Collective.

‘Our family is shattered. Our hearts are broken and we just don’t know what the future looks like without Meaghan.’

He said she had formed lifelong friends while living on Sydney’s lower North Shore and the Northern Beaches.

‘It was a time in her life when she was so happy,’ Mr Bowler said.

Her family is now focused on bringing her body back to Australia to be laid to rest.

A date for the funeral has not yet been revealed. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family.
